Just purchased Vossen wheels - need URGENT tire size recommendations
I just purchased some Vossen VVS086's as in the picture below. They are 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear.
I was planning to use 245x30 up front and 285x30 at the rear, opting for a slightly higher side wall to reduce possibility of wheel damage. However, the dealer said these would rub the fenders.
He is recommending the 305x25 for the rear and 255x30 up front.
Any input on whether the higher side wall tires will be an issue?
I don't understand why the higher side wall options are the same/ smaller then the wheels I have now which are narrower? Any ideas?
I also have some lowering links and plan to lower the car as well.

2009 SL 550 and 2008 Z06
325 and 255 fit no rubbing
I have an 09 sl with vossens new concave the same size and offset as you have purchased, the 325 and 255 combo works and I have the lowring links as well. No problems. My car is on there website under Mercedes gallery, concave wheel section. It is silver with red interior if you want to go look at what the tires and stance look like.
Good luck

That ride looks cool. I almost bought those VVSCV1 wheels, but went with the VVS086's in the end.
I had a heavily modified Corvette before with 30/35's on the 19/18" wheels. I also added heavy duty role bars for flatter cornering. It rode quite firm, but I like that. Reading the forum, some say go with 255/35 + 285/30 as there are reliability issues with the ultra-low profile. Some say they can't tell a ride difference with the ultra-low profile - others say it is too harsh.
I don't think I will be bothered by the firmness - I just don't want to be replacing blown tires and bent rims every few months.
I did have some 25's on 18x8 rims before (a long time ago). I had 4 blow-outs, no bent rim though. I guess 25's on 20" rims still have more side wall than that set up.
I one other question for anyone who might know - the meaning of the numbers for tire width profile? I thought the first number - 285 is width and the profile is a percentage number. I have seen some it is height in mm? Can someone clarify? I have seen people put 285 and 305 on the 10.5" RIM's. The fact that 305 is way wider than 12", I would assume the 305 is not the width - so confusing!

If im correct, 305 is tyre width, 25 is the tyre depth taken as a % of the tyre width so in this case 25% of 305 and obviously 20 is diameter.

I chose 245/35-20 fr and 285/30-20 rr, exactly for same reason as you are. No rubbing at all on my stock height car.
Now if you lower it enough, then maybe you want to stay with stock diameter of 255/30-20 fr and 305/25-20 rr, as suggested by others here.
Oh, never mind. I just noticed that this post is four months old. You must have bought tires by now.
