Is this a salvage vehicle? If so and the car was flooded there could be a myriad of problems coming up with the electronics.. Make sure this is worth it.

mb can rebuild my the engine for$22,500 with a warranty 4 years 50,000 miles
metric can rebuild my engine for$12,900 with a warranty 4 years 50,000 miles
the rest of the car is good all other electronics is good and tested so my question was if mercesdes benz coat the cylinders with teflon inside the chambers and metric uses silicone
the warranty is still the same i dont think mb coats cylinders with teflon i think my mechanic trying to jazz up repair costs

You hear crickets in this forum most the time. The focus is so narrow not many post at all let alone know the answer to your very legitimate question as you seek to fix up your car. Good luck.

You posted it in the wrong section as this is for 2013 SLs. I'd also respectfully suggest you post it in the "Tech Talk" section as the traffic on this maintenance related issue will be much higher there and it's moderated by an MB tech. Much better chance someone will know what they do during an engine rebuild.
