Good Deal on a SL500?

I recently picked up my 04' SL500 for about $6K under MSRP. I thought it was a pretty good deal, has anyone gotten better?

Sounds like a good deal to me. I went to purchase an Aegean Blue 04 SL500 Saturday here in Arizona. The car arrvied Friday at 12:00p.m., I looked it over at 1:00, liked it, decided to come back Saturday at 12:00p.m to buy it only to watch it go out the door. It sold at 11:00a.m. at MSRP. I went a head and ordered the same car and they would not go under MSRP. Same at other dealerships in the area. Should I have pushed for under MSRP? BTW, how long is it taking to get a car after the order has been placed? They said about 3 months. Sounds too soon to me..

3 months would be great but I am guessing it will be more like 4-5 months. The one I was going to purchase had a build date of March and just arrived. The dealership ordered the car. Thats sounds wrong but that's what the owner of the dealership said. Any news on a front end facelift on the 05? I am told that will not take place untill the 08 model.

I spoke to my dealer and they can probably order the car for you at $1K under MSRP if you're interested. Let me know.

BTW, do not pay MSRP ever. The dealer makes about $12,000 on a SL500, so you definetly have some room to bargain.

It seems that there will not be a facelift until 2008. Also, you should be able to get the car for atleast $2k below MSRP.

You other guys better not look ...

too hard, cause you're gonna be sick at what the values of these cars are doing. I'm in the industy, and I've been hearing about these cars for 45-60 days now at $5-7k off MSRP, with all options and colors. I received a fax list from a broker about a week ago with 12 cars available, with the most expensive one at $5k back of MSRP. Our local small market dealer just got in a pewter silver non sport car, it has sat for over a month without the door being opened. GM told me a few days ago he woun't be taking any more SL's for stock for a good while.
Amazing how it happened so fast. You can blame your buddies at DC/MBUSA. Again, just too many cars in the pipeline. And BTW, your dealer doesn't make $12k on a new SL, even with the holdback and CSI money. It's more like 8k with the holdback. Good news is you should be albe to buy one of these cars with no headaches. Hope this helps...

What's happening with the 55's and 600's? ...and what effect is winter having on the 500's? Will prices get firmer come spring/summer?

benzosl, where did u get the info that the sl won't have a facelift until 2008? I thought a guy in another thread got "inside" news on sl getting the slr nose in 2005.

Oversupply has clearly produced an SL glut. Contrast the tight market for the SL55 at the time it was introduced with the fact that the SL600 model is available in dealer inventory so soon after its introduction. I’m probably overpaying by accepting delivery of the SL600 I ordered at MSRP. Even so, the dollar has been so weak against the euro and yen lately that I’ve got to believe there will eventually be strong upward price pressure on all imported cars. I’m sure European car companies hedge, but hedging beyond six months or a year is difficult and costly. I bet that in a couple years the prices we are paying for SLs now will look pretty good, and that the resale values of the cars we own will be surprisingly strong.

i think you are saying the right thing but sl55 will be much stronger than sl500.
