SL350 R230 (european) real mileage

Hi everyone.

I own a beautiful SL350 R230 since 2008. Now I'm approaching 200.000 Km but, unfortunately, I had a lot of trouble: broken sensors, broken A/C refrigerant pipe, broken hydraulic steering pump, front wheels arms, oil leaking... everything.

Three days ago, my heater fan stopped working.

I bought this car "used" with only 40.000 Km but now I believe that this was a false mileage. I think that the previous owner had lowered this value, because after only 200.000 Km my car is having a lot of serious problems (as a 400.000 Km car!).

Is there a way to check and find if the total mileage has been hacked? Someone told me that there is an odometer not only in the instrument cockpit, but also in the light switch block and other ECUs...

Some hints?

Thanks a lot:nix:

If this car has 120,000 miles (200,000 K) then the items you list are not unusual failures for that age or distance.

Get the Vehicle Maintenance Record from the dealer and see what the trend was for time and distance, as well as all of the things that were fixed. If they say they can't give it to you, take a box of donuts to the parts man and ask for a copy. Last, just ask if you can SEE it, not take it with you. This will tell you if the mileage is correct.

The mileage can be adjusted by specialists. For instance if you replace your instrument cluster. I have no idea if it is held anywhere else in the car.
