It's your ABC fluid there's a component of the system in the fender behind the wheel well. Mine was leaking the but it was only the seal on the hose connection start there. Do a search there are a few threads about this.

Looks like ABC leak and the fluid needs to be changed while you are in there.

Pulsation dampener or accumulator. Probably time to replace all of them and to replace the hydraulic lines too. This is gonna sting.

You spent too much on the pump. They are available for a fraction of what you paid.

That's not a crazy price. I replaced my pump myself and it's not a fun job. I think I paid around $850 for a new pump and then around $70 for fluid. I had the old one rebuilt for $350 through Rock Auto (Cardone) and then sold it for $550 so I made a little bit back.

An oil leak on a 15 year old car is not a big deal. ABC has advantages when working properly but does eventually fail. If your is properly fixed now, it should be reliable for quite a while.

He ordered the pump and it cost him $1.9k Euro. If that included install, it's not a bad price for a new pump with installation. If just the pump, he could have gotten one much cheaper.
