Sound System Specs

Hey All,

I've looked everywhere and can't find any specs on the BOSE audio system that's in my car (08' SL550 with 6 cd changer). Would anyone have technical data on this system (# of speakers, amp output, subwoofer, etc.)? Thanks!

Patrick

From what I have found, the Bose system is 250 watts total output into 2ohm speakers. With the MY2009 facelift, the switched to Harmon-Kardon, 510w into 4ohm speakers.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for!! Moretech: I couldn't agree with you more; the sound is extremely mediocre. The HK system on my recently traded-in C Class was far superior. The SL is in the shop getting a couple warranty items taken care of so I'll investigate a bit further once she's home.

Sorry if offtop, but removing the front speaker on the dashboard is a whole dashboard removing process? Mine starts rattling a little, and sooner or later i will have to deal with that...

You're the man, Rudeney! Thank you very much!

Apparently MB thought about that too when they designed the dashboard. On other cars you need to remove the whole dashboard to access it! It will be easier than I thought thank you again

2005 SL500

Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but I have just installed a new Kenwood head unit connected to my Bose amplifier and stock Bose speakers in my ‘05 SL500.
I feel the results are exceptionally good sound with this Kenwood head unit. The sound is crisp and clean with plenty of volume and punch. The bass is also very very good with the factory sub-woofer.
The head unit also has modern DSP processing to elevate the sound stage upward away from down at foot level which works really nice with the front fill speaker.
Also has DSP sound correction to make mp3 files sound like CD quality, as well as the same correction if wanted for Spotify, Tidal, and other sources.

Overall I could not be happier. Well worth the investment over the stock radio, and I have flawless hands free cell, music streaming, google maps, HD radio, and back up camera too. All on a HD screen.

This is now on par with many of the higher end auto stereo’s out there, including my BMW X5 Harman/Kardon system.

Highly recommended!
