OMG ~! what should i do ? ( door catch broken)

yesterday , after i pull the door catch inside, it's broken (plastic is not broken but doesnt work at all)
i can only open the door from outside.

(i attached the foto )

though i drove over 12 yrs, it's first time to see this kind of problem.

it's so uncomfortable to drive like this... (i should open the window and stretch the arm to open from outside.. haha)

It sounds like the linkage has broken or come loose. You'll need to remove the door trim panel and find out what's going on.

Careful with those youtube videos of large men pulling and flexing the door card like crazy. Like most other things on these cars - you don't want to force it, it's easy to remove once you find the right angle. Don't pry on plastic with a screwdriver.

That's the likely culprit:

^^^ Great photo showing the linkage at the door handle! My suspicion is that the metal rod has popped out of the white plastic lock bushing, which usually happens when the bushing breaks, although if the door panel was ever removed, it's possible that the rod was not fully snapped into the busing and just came loose. If it's a broken bushing, you can find those at most auto parts stores. Another possibility is that the metal handle itself is broken. if so, it is available as a separate part: A2307660124 (left) A2307660224 (right)

If it is the bushing, take it off (or what of it you can get) and take it to an auto parts store. Almost every car on the road uses these same bushing, maybe just slightly different diameters.

Your linkage broke or came loose, taking the door panel off is easy if you know what you're doing.

What you may actually need is A2307660067 - it's called the "spindle" and looks to sit between the handle and the pull wire.

How does the spindle disengage from the door pull?

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
Just for those who run into the same problem: after putting the door card back on, my interior handle felt slack and the door wouldn't open from inside. There's info about spindles and catches failing, but in my case I failed to feed the end of the outer bowden cable through a plastic catch in the door card. I had the door cards of before, but I just didn't recall that at all. Age, no doubt.

While opening the driver side door, I heard something pop. Now inner door handle is just flopping around.
I was able to remove the driver side door panel and found the spindle is broken
Can someone point me to instruction/video on how to replace it.
Purchased the spindle and will be delivered soon.

Thanks in advance,
Jojo

Ohhhh.... I did not realize one can just pry it out.
I did cut/remove a small piece of the door card so that it would come out easily.
