Pic request for panoramic owners!

Hey guys I need some pics of Panoramic roofs both exterior and lots of interior pics!

We're in the process of narrowing down the options for the car and pics would be helpful

Only ones I could find, beware though it does add weight...otherwise lightens interior dramatically.[

I have always wondered if it really does add weight.
If it does...anybody really know how much exactly?

I would be wary of the Pano roof living in a hot climate. I have had two 2003 SL500's. (disliked Designo Silver so changed to Brilliant Silver) When I was ordering my SL600 I strongly considered ordering it with the roof. I test drove a SL500 for the sole purpose of seeing what the roof was like. The test vehicle was red with a light ash interior. Since it was July 2003 and since I live in Houston it was quite hot when I got in the car. The screen was closed in the roof. Although the air was blowing ice cold, the feeling of radiant heat on the top of my head really never went away over the course of the 15 minute drive. At the end of the test, I opened the screen. The heat really flooded in then.
In the end, I ordered my 600 in Brilliant Silver/Charcoal without the roof. I decided that if I wanted light over my head that I would just put the top down!

Additional comment: Since you are looking at the other options let me put in a plug for Keyless go and Parktronic. I thought that the Keyless go was stupid. Wrong. I also like having the chip in the key rather than the credit type card that I had on my second SL.
Parktronic: real important if you have the sport package. It helps avoid the scratches when there is a wall beyond the parking bump.
The final option that I like altho it is completely irrational is the illuminated door sill. Few SL's are fitted with them and it always produces a positive comment when people open the door! My G has them standard...same reaction.

Thanks for the panoramic pics guys, got any interior shots? I remember seeing one of with the front + rear + panoramic roof shot from the inside looked very nice gave the car a very nice open feel to it

2003G55 thanks for the advice I guess that screen is not really a proper screen like on a sunroof? Any way I could replace that screen with a proper sheet of the same material vs the wholey material?

I'll agree with you on Parktronic I am split for Keyless go though. We have it on our S class and while I really enjoy I would really like a button that remotely opens the trunk/doors or in the case of the SL the roof as well. Do the current gen Keyless go cards have those buttons?

We're pretty much set on the lighting package, parktronic, phone kit. I was planning on ripping out the stereo system and putting something decent in their but from I've read on the MB command Headunits MB pulls a lot of tricks to prevent people from upgrading the system. I was hoping to put a 650 CSi/CXi from JL audio + one of their 300/4 amps but I think those dreams have gone up in flames

On a side note our dealership had 3 Maybachs sitting in their storage bay two where awaiting pickup and the 3rd was in service. I talked to the sales manager and he told me they had 3 more in stock at the main storage facility

You are correct in saying that the inside screen is not solid like a sedan. It is a perforated synthetic like fabric. It works like a shade.
Keyless go: No card like on the 2003. The chip is inside the key. To lower the top remotely, you hold the open button on the key. Then put it back in your pocket and operate the keyless go as with your S. The key is much better than the card system. With the older system if you just had your card with you, car valet had to be instructed and you had to leave the card with them. Now you just put the key in the ignition and they don't have to be inserviced every time.

Maybach: so they are not selling v. well there? I did the test drive here and was extremely impressed with the creature comforts and performance. However, this the type of car that one would never want to drive since the best position in the car is in back. When I picked up my SL600 in Sindelfingen I was able to get a consultation at the Maybach showroom adjacent to the main facility. If you are in Germany I would highly rec stopping in even if you are not interested in buying as they are most cordial.

Actually they are selling better than expected. They initially thought that they would not sell enough cars to put in a Maybach centre but the volume of orders has proved them wrong. 3 out of the 6 cars where already sold 1 was in for servicing and I'm not too sure about the status of the other 2.

I also read an article about the Maybach which said that MB was expecting more 62s to be sold than 57s wheras the opposite is true for sales.

WayneE thanks, I take it the pano roof came tinted that color?

have the Pano top in my SL. I love it. It makes the car feel even bigger inside. Haven't experienced any heat issues but I am garaged at home and at work. I keep my sunshade retracted 100% of the time....at least until the heat comes in July/August.
