Antifreeze questions

Hi Guys, I have owned my 2005 SL350 since 2006 and it has never had the coolant replaced. I know that in the owner manual it says every 15 years but why is this since usually you have to change the coolant every 4 years?
BTW, if I do decide to swop it is their anything special I need to know. I recently treated myself to a two post lift and so I have good access.
Thanks in advance,

cashwowud.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
They use very good coolant and that's why the long change cycle. Likely your best bet for coolant replacement is Xerex G-05. It's compatible with MBX coolant and is readily available at most retail auto parts stores, and not too expensive. There's no secrets to changing it. Open the reservoir cap as a vent, and you can squeeze on the hoses to burp out as much as possible. After refilling, check it after several starts to top it off - it's self bleeding.

Thanks Rudeney for that info. I think I'll change it whilst it is on the lift.
