Dimming Mirrors

The dimming mirrors on my 2005 SL500 stay way to dark. Can the dimming be adjusted lighter or can the dimming feature be eliminated? There is a fuse controlling each mirror. What happens if the fuses are removed?

The dimming is controlled by two sensors on the rear view mirror. One is in the cover and faces forward, the other is embedded int he glass and faces backward. Whenever the light coming on the rear facing sensor is brighter than the front facing sensor, it activates the dimming feature. Is there possibly something blocking the front-facing sensor on your mirror?

Dimming SL500 mirrors

I have blocked the front sensor but it made no difference in the darkness of the mirrors.
I would be happy if all dimming was eliminated and I could use just plain glass mirrors.
It's dangerous using these dark mirrors. /Could pulling the fuses help?

I don't know of a fuse that controls just the dimming. I am guessing the rearview mirror sensors are faulty.
