Hyper blue bulbs / clear turn signals
I haven't even received my R230 yet, but I'm already planning ahead..
I'm one of those guys that happen to love the cold blue ("hyper white") bulbs, instead of the regular bulbs which tend to be much more warm white. I love warm white (or rather, 'natural white') lights for my house, but for my cars I want them more blueish / colder in color.
Soo.. I'd like to know if anyone has any good tips for switching out the fog lights bulbs, perhaps even the factory bi-xenon lights? Etc, for something more WHITE? What about license plate lights? It seems Mercedes used some sort of special bulb for that, and that particular bulb seems to be difficult to find in LED.
Also, I know I'm being petty, but I also happen to adore clear turn signals. Does anyone know if it's possible to change out the factory amber / orange lenses, in the front corners of an R230 (mine is an '11) for a clear lens with amber bulbs?
Thanks in advance!

Please check my attached image. I found it on Google, so it's not my own image, but wouldn't this goodlooking SL be 100 times more beautiful with clear turn signals?!

Yes, you can make those changes.
For the low beams, those are D1S bulbs... We have Morimoto 6500K D1S replacement bulbs available, or if you want the best of the best regardless of budget.... Osram Xenarc CBB 7000K. Plug and play.
For your fogs, you'll want an H11 HID conversion kit. We have Morimoto HID conversion kits available as well.
Your rear plates will use our 36mm festoon LEDs. Front signals, our 5200 LED bulb. Parking/city lights and your sidemarker lights use our 194 wedge LEDs. Reverse lights use our 1156 bayonet LEDs and rear signals use our 7507 bayonet LEDs.
All of these are canbus enabled which you'll need to not trigger error codes.

Also, you weren't totally clear in your response, but do you also have CLEAR / WHITE side markers / turn signals to switch out the factory ambers for my model?

Yes, we do ship internationally. We only carry the bulbs unfortunately, not the clear housing components.

Azn optics, can you guys guarantee the festoon bulbs for the license plate won't create a "bulb error" or flicker? I've tried many many LED bulbs for the license plate and after a month or two they flicker, on my SL, it throws an error code, or doesn't even work at all sometimes.

Thank you, i just placed an order. If it does work without errors, i'll get other lights for the dome and front markers and such.

Edit: Before & after pictures of the two light bulbs at night, obviously.. Preferably from a little way away, so we can see the whole back end. Thx!

For us "n00bs" that want to make sure that we are purchasing something that is 100% compatible with our vehicle, would you mind adding links to your products for the lights you mentioned above? For example, maybe I wasn't browsing in the right section, but I found no Osram Xenarc on your website. I am also curious why a H11 HID conversion kit would be needed for the fog lights, what about using regular MTEC Cosmos Blue H11 bulbs? I've used those in my other vehicles for 10 years and they've always been 'blue' enough.. Thankful for advice on this!
So with regards to the H11 question.... The MTEC bulbs are standard halogen bulbs with a blue film on the outside to fake the color output that you get from HIDs. The problem with this is the blue film is lumen restricting so you get less light and also over time, the blue film will flake off leaving a mess inside your housing and back to that yellowish halogen light. Halogens just can't physically reach the kelvin temp ranges that HIDs can. So an HID conversion kit will give you true HID color and output performance.

It looks great, but I'm not sure what it looked like before. What are your personal opinions on the difference between the regular bulbs vs these? Are they more blue/white in color? Or do they mainly just shine brighter? Something not everyone wants for their license plate...

Another newbie question, and apologies in advance if it is a quite dumb question.. But is it at all dangerous to replace xenon / HID bulbs in a vehicle? I'm no electrician or auto expert, but I've read somewhere that even with a regular 12-volt system in the car, bulbs like these put out something like thousands of volts?

I haven't had a chance to thank you in text yet, but thanks for that info! You learn something new every day.
