Need Advice on Wheels
Just bought our first Mercedes--2005 SL500, so get ready for some stupid questions!
Vin Decoder calls my wheels "Double Spoke AMG"; they have 5 wide, split spokes. In the Corvette World I come from very similar wheels, sans the split spokes, are referred to as "Gumby" wheels. I'd like to switch to wheels I've seen on a 2007 SL550 with 10 single spokes, or the 14 spoke wheels I've seen on a 2008 SL550.
I assume these wheels are stock on both cars, and if so, are the same rim size (18 x 9.5") as my '05. I'm also assuming the wheel offsets would be the same, so I would have no problems running these wheels. Are my assumptions correct?
Secondly, regardless if the 10 and 14 spoke are OEM, can someone give me a tip on where to buy them? (Already checked the Forum and nothing.)
Thanks for your help!

Standard SL500 wheels are 18", so your assumptions regarding sizes might be wrong. Here is the site that lists all wheel sizes that are standard on different cars.

Are these the 10 spoke wheels you're referring to?
These are the ones on my SL550. They are 18x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 in the back. Mine are chromed as you can see, but they were also available in satin finish.
Here is a link where you can get these:

If you plan on selling your split spoke, let me know, I'd be interested.

I'll let you know as soon as I switch out the split spokes.

Now that I look more closely, Dudeman I think you're right---the spokes just look narrower due to distance from the car vs. your tight closeup!
Can you give me a rough idea what it cost to have the wheels chromed?
Thanks

The car came with the chromed wheels. I did buy it used, but I'm pretty sure they came from the factory like this.
Anyway, here is a wide shot of the car. I'm sorry I don't have better photos, I'm not in the habit of taking photos of my car.

@Cardinal Flyer Congratulations on your R230, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Please post a picture.
I presume the split spoke wheels you are talking about are the same as mine (AMG) in pic below?
@Dudeman I don't think I had seen an R230 in light blue, very nice!

My previous '05 Sl500 was all black, black tail lights, 20 black wheels and 3 tone anthracite interior, but when I was looking to get a replacement, I looked at quite a few SL's, but this one had all the features I wanted, a warranty and lower mileage, so although I wasn't a big fan of the color originally, I bought it. Now, nearly a year later, the color has grown on me.
BTW, the light blue, according to the VIN, it's called Teal Blue Metallic.
Here is my old one:

There are many choices for DAS/Xentry Diagnostics for MB.
Ensure you have the right information before getting one. There is too much misleading info.
