In-Line Magnetic Filter

Ok after driving for 2-1/2 Summers I changed out my filter after I blew my High Pressure Line going to rear Accumulator. I'm sure the debris is not from the Rubber Line Blow out.
My humble Opinion would be to add magnetic In-Line filter to your our cars.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Has the filter ever been changed? Originally, it was a 10-micron filter, but later (mid-My2007 as best as i can tell) they revised that to a 3-micron filter.

Yes, after I replaced all my accumulators (One was Bad) I did the Rodeo/Flush and used the 3-micron Filters. That was just before I put the Magnafilter on.
Alot of the Little black specs in pictures is the Plastic Shavings from when I sawed open filter. But in the Round Donut shaped magnet picture I cleaned off with paper towels then went around paper towel picking up metal specs. It the picture with just the magnet itself in it.

Inline magnetic filters are a popular add on for ABC equipped vehicles in Germany. I could never figure out why it's so rarely seen on a vehicle here in North America. In fact, It was one of the first things I installed on my car. I couldn't even find a US retailer who sold a magnetic filter and had to order it directly from Germany, where they're readily available. I prefer the ones with the the clear filter housing since it lets you see the condition of the fluid with a simple glance and keeps you alert to any changes in fluid color so you can investigate before a system catastrophe.

Looks like it would be the way to go if you were changing the ABC fluid/filter, what could it hurt? What is the price of the clear one Aussiesuede?

fyi in the future the magnefiner filter types unscrew, no sawing or cutting needed to inspect.

With Shipping from Germany,it's $100 bucks. Pricey for a filter, but worth the peace of mind imo. Alternatively, there are owners in Germany who use a standard clear magnetic diesel fuel filter that can be had here in the US for about $10. Again, the value of the clear is it let's you see the condition of your fluid at a glance, and when the fluid get's darker, it's time for a change. FWIW, my ABC system is still riding on original Shocks and original pump at 268,000 miles. The only part of the system that's needed replacement was a blown high pressure line. The valve block is showing signs of needing cleaning/servicing ABC Fluid changed religiously every 40,000 miles since the 100,000 mile mark.

I really like that clear filter and the price seems to have dropped a little since I 1st decided to go with a in line Magnetic filter. Curious about the inner filter on them, are they washable/renewable or do you have to buy replacements?

keep in mind that the valve blocks are made of aluminum, which is not magnetic

During a pentosin fluid change, I unscrewed the allen bolts and removed the filter element and blew it out with compressed air. Then I sat the filter element in a glass of pentosin overnight and checked that nothing was floating the next morning. If you purchase the filter at the time of a fluid change, you get the fluid, clear inline filter, and normal filter all for $325 shipped.
