Sensor in the reservoir is stuck down or bad. Replace the brake fluid reservoir and you should be good to go. For testing reasons, you can unplug the sensor and jumper across the harness connector, the light should go out. That means the rest of the system is working normally.

Thank you for your answer.

The sensor comes with the reservoir, right? Isn't any way to replace the sensor only?

I've only seen it with the reservoir, yes. I replaced one in a 166 ML350 not long ago. Simple to do, and even the whole reservoir isn't that expensive.

Thank you for your answer I really appreciate it.

I have "check brake fluid level" message and I knew the fluid level is good so I suspected is a sensor. The dealer quoted me around $400 to have the sensor replaced and an independent mechanic around $200+

None of them mentioned that the sensor is in the reservoir, included...

Now after reading all these posts I figured that: 1. I have to replace the reservoir 2. that is not a too complicated job (you don't play with the brake system, is the most important system that you don't want to fail when you drive ...) and 3. It will be a $60 expense vs. $200+ to the mechanic or $400 to the dealer.

BTW I'm ordering the reservoir from Amazon for $57...brand new Genuine MB part.
