Roof refuses to open
500 sl R230 2006 56000miles when trying to open roof boot opens and then nothing else happens boot closes when pressing to close any suggestions would be helpful

You will obviously need diagnostic software to solve this issue.
The roof has a thorough opening and closing sequence, probably one of the switches does not work properly and your roof does not proceed to the next sequence item. So the car does not realize that the boot is open and does not proceed any further.
You need to connect star diagnostics to see if all the swiches work properly.

When the boot opens, visually check to see if the wing flaps on each side of the trunk lid are sagging. If one or both are sagging, the micro switches are not making contact which will cause the roof not to start the "open roof" sequence.
