Just drove my car this morning and it was 10 degrees Fahrenheit, radio turns on but no sound, should i be looking at some fuse? amp? wires?

Hmmm never mind, when i left work the radio started working again. 30 degrees at the time

Mine does something similar. Usually when its cold, but once when it was warm. The head unit comes on and plays static at full volume from most of the speakers, but you can still hear music in the background. Startles you for sure. If I turn off the car and let it go fully to sleep, the radio comes back to life. Does this about 4 times a year. Once everything came on except the subwoofer. Started again after a restart. So far, knock on wood, always comes back after a restart. No even sure how you would diagnose this until something completely fails.

So it seems if something doesn't work on this car, just turn it off and back on and it should be okay. lol, like all electronics in my house.

The COMAND unit in my CLK would play static every once in a while. Since I was usually tuned to Sirius, which is all digital, I knew it was not RF interference. Shutting off the car would generally fix it. One day, it happened when I was on a long stretch of freeway where pulling over to restart the engine was not very convenient. I grabbed the volume knob and quickly turned it back and forth, more out of frustration than anything. That actually fixed it! Not permanently, but for that instance. It did this one other time it happened, and again, quickly rotating the volume knob stopped the static. I believe the volume knob uses an optical sensor, so I doubt it's the culprit, but the abrupt change in volume levels might have been enough to "wake up" whatever electronic circuit was misbehaving.

Did it again today, but this time it was very loud static, as if the volume was on max and you had it tuned to an AM station with no signal. I guess i shouldn't drive this car in the cold, can't help it though it's such a blast.
