Bluetooth Puck doesn't auto connect...
I added a Mercedes Bluetooth puck (B67875878) from ebay like the one in the picture below to the MHI connector in my console (2008 SL550, Keyless Go if that matters...) and it is successfully paired with my Samsung S9.
However, it almost never auto-connects when I start my car (Bluetooth on my phone is turned on). When I start the car, the blue lights on the puck blink, but it won't auto connect to the phone. I can manually connect it by opening the Bluetooth connections on my phone with the car started, and select "MB PhoneSystem" from the paired device list and it will connect, but it won't automatically connect. Once I have it manually connected, it works great for phone calls until I turn the car off. When I start the car again, it won't auto connect (even though it is still paired). My phone auto connects with my Land Cruiser every time. I have disconnected and re-paired many times, and I have deleted all other blue tooth devices and repaired with only the Mercedes puck, but it still won't auto connect.
I even added an app called "Bluetooth Auto Connect" that is supposed to help with auto connect issues, and this seems to help occasional: for example sometimes, not all the time, I can be in the car with the car running but not connected to Bluetooth and I will receive a call and 30 seconds into the conversation, the phone will connect to the puck and the call switches from my phone to the car audio....
Lastly, the phone book has never downloaded...
Anyone else having this issue? Is it possible my "puck" is bad? Do I need to update the firmware on the puck (is this possible?)?

Can anyone else confirm that they have a Bluetooth puck that auto-connects reliably (and what phone you are using).
With my puck and my Samsung S9 phone, it seems like it tries to auto-connect, but doesn't finish. Then if I manually open up Bluetooth on my phone showing paired devices, I can tap on the MB PhoneSystem, and it will connect.
I don't understand why it won't auto connect????
I'm wondering if it is a problem with my puck?
Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Blue Tooth Auto Connect FIXED. Replaced puck with a different one.
I had purchased a Bluetooth puck from ebay, and it was paired with my phone. I could manually connect, and then it would work for calls. But the address book would NOT download, and it would NOT auto reconnect the next time I got in the care (I had to manually re-connect).
I contacted the seller of the puck and asked them to swap it for a different one, and they agreed. The replacement puck they sent works perfectly and auto connects quickly, every time! Also, my address book downloaded, and everything is working as it should.
I can only assume that the original puck they sent was either defective, or there was some firmware issue or miss match.
All is good now.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
Sounds like the factory installed Bluetooth equipment in my Passat and iphone6. Hopelessly unreliable. Bluetooth can be a real pain in you know where.

Unfortunately no. As far as I understand the puck doesn't support streaming music (no ADP2 Bluetooth), it is calls only. However, I have considered getting a ipod ADP2 Bluetooth adapter (you can get them for $20 online) and plugging into the ipod cable, which would allow Bluetooth music streaming (I did this in my LandCruiser that also has an IPOD cable). It is a little clumsy, but it does work.
