2008 SL55 AMG CD REMOVAL

Would appreciate if anyone has instructions on how to remove the CD Changer on a 2008 SL55 AMG.

Rodney

This looks very similar to my 2005 R230. Can you say if the procedure is the same?

Mike.

Should be all the same for MY2005-MY2008.

This may be very helpful. For the first time since I bought my SL550, I recently tried to eject the cd changer cartridge. No success. Not even a sound out of the unit. I have not done the simplest diagnostics yet, so I don't know if it's nothing more than a blown fuse, or a burn out cd changer. So all of this may prove to be helpful.

Can you tell me where the cd changer fuse is?

Mike.

Tribal knowledge says that if the CD changer cartridge does not come out, you can give it a sharp rap on the CD case and it may then eject.
It's a Flintstones fix, but I've seen more than once this has fixed the eject problem.
Try that first and let us know if it works for you.

I asked about the fuse out of curiosity, the cd changer is getting power. It ejects the cartridge fine too. The problem is that it won't load a CD from the cartridge. It just keeps scanning for a CD and never finds one even though all six slots are loaded. I can see parts moving inside the changer occasionally while it is searching but it never pulls the tray from the cartridge.

OK - that's not the problem.
One last thing. Are the disks in right? Try flipping the disks over.

mikefamig 06-20-2019 01:35 AM

I did not try flipping the disks over but it says on top of the cartridge to insert the discs with the label facing up and they are that way. The changer is not even opening the disk tray so the read head never sees the disk.

Mike.
