Replacing external auto-dimming mirror glass
The auto dimming external mirror glass needs to be replaced. Before I go and pick up a direct replacement part are there any "upgrade" options?
Any Euro options with wide angle portion? Just looking for all options. This looks to be a good price: https://www.germanautopartssource.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-mirror-glass-1718100721 |
Well, 133 views, no replies. I'm going to assume that there are no other options. Cool, I'll just buy the replacement.

Well, sorry there... do you want a Euro glass? I’d help if you’d want me to.

Are there differences between US and Euro? If there are then maybe yes. I would like a wider angle view section along with auto-dimming if it exists. I havent found any evidence of that being the case.

My euro mirror is concave and active anti-blind. No sectors or dotted line. I’m afraid the photo is not really helping.

Just found out I was lying. Both mirrors do have a vertical dotted line, but I’m having a hard time trying to note a significant wide angle effect. Must be very subtle. Both mirrors are heated, left mirror dims along with interior mirror.

Thank you for that info. I’ve decided to purchase the mirror from germanautopartssource.com. I just need to be able to see other vehicles on my left side sooner rather than later!

I replaced the mirror today. It took me a little while to figure out how to pop it off, but it was pretty easy. I had to transfer over a couple of metal tabs, and then it was just a matter of adding the wiring and snapping it in place. So much better being able to see out the left side.

Timely post as my left mirror glass is also bad to the point of being unusable at night. Does anyone know if the glass is the same for all (US) models or are there options such as heating and dimming, and if so, how do I tell which version I have?
Vehicle in question is a 2003 SL500, Thanks, Matt |
I believe they're all heated/dimming. This is the part number I purchased for my 2004

The part varies by model year. post your VIN and I can lookup the proper part number.
