Pink Shrimp LCD successfully fixed!
Mentioned in earlier post that my LCD in speedo cluster had bad case of "pink shrimp". To fix it I ordered one of the LCD's from the China source, only to find out that were out of the item. So I ordered a used cluster off of ebay. It arrived today and one of it's LCD's was bad also. But good news, one of them was good.
So I followed the instructions in a previous MB World post and replaced mine with the good one. Works good! |
Nice! Mine is actually shrinking and nearly gone

Since I now have two of the LCD's with the condition, I thought of trying ways to rehab them. I tapped them, rubbed fingers across them hopeing to move the particles magnetically, tried to move the two glass panels against each other, all to no avail. It would be great if we could find out why yours is getting better?

I'll give that a try.

Warmed them up, tried squeezing the two layers back and forth etc. It may be my imagination but the messed up place seemed to change shape from time to time. Tapped on them, tapped them on their edges, but no cigar. Will keep experimenting.

Used a heat gun. Made it pretty hot. Notice this morning that one LCD is much worse than it was yesterday.

All I have done is use heat, cold, movement, magnet etc. I have done a bit of research (youtube) as to possible electronic fixes. Does not look promising. The units from China I believe are re-furbished so there is probably a fix that they have found. My car is all back together. I have wondered a bit if screens from other cars might be modified and used.
