SL/R230: 05 Front bumper
I plan on reconditioning the headlights (of the car) so the bumper needs to go as well.
I’ll have it of in few days but the initial inspection reviles ugly scratches and some cracks on the bottom part. There are also quite few stone chips. Originally I thought about getting it refinished but I’m concerned with how very brittle the material is. I can fix the cracks but I’m afraid that new ones will develop and just void all the efforts. I see the dealer replacement cost @ $800 for the 230 bumper w/o sports package and almost twice as much for the one with the sport package (black primed). Is there really that much difference between them?
I’m leaning towards the new. Since the re-spray may cost quite a bit to, I like to make sure that the refinished surface stays perfect for the long time.

They are both listed here as position 1, second being the one with the sport package for twice the price 😩

Also, if you know of a dealer/reseller that can provide buyer friendly discount, don’t be shy and please let me know.

The info is bittersweet 🤔
My car supposedly got the sport package but the bumper looks just like the one on the version without the package. (First link)
The sweet part is, it will only cost half as much to get. 👌
Any connections here for some good discounts?
I decided to get all original parts. I’ll need front bumper and few underbelly panels (that have seen better days).
Also notice some stone chips in the driver side fog light. I’m thinking of replacing it as a preventative measure. Can I purchase the glass alone or it must be a complete unit?
