How did you determine and mark Exactly where to weld the new plastic piece on the broken triangle?

So I started to make a cardboard item;plate and it became apparent how the new part is designed to slot over the broken off triangle piece.
It would not align/fit on mine until I took a razor knife and trimmed some of the remaining tab on the triangle. Once.i had the tab proper, it was all downhill from there
Measure, look adjust, confirm then start over again before you weld the two pieces. Give the proper attention, it went quite easy.

The files included by Sl65user are all that is required for a local 3d print shop to make the pieces.
I spent $24 for 2. (only needed one so far.

Many thanks again for this repair!
Peace!!

I would be highly interested in obtaining a pair. I just tried to put mine back on. What do you charge for a pair plus shipping?\\

TIA

Anyone else interested?
Not looking to get rich (or start another business) and happy to help (as so many others that belong here)!
I think $35 for two would cover the little bit of time and materials required to get them anywhere in the US.

Dr. Plastic, let's give others a chance to respond and let me know if you are order number 1?

I am also looking into custom V12 floor mats (with the metal inserts) and if anyone sees this and starts a new thread interest may spread?

Peace to all and enJoy your day!

A big thank you to Brucewane. I was able to get the retainer clip off without breaking the post and then was in easy install.

I just repaired mine with a double layer of that Scotch brand, Dual lock Super Velcro from 3M. I cleaned away the foam and removed the insert in the door. Cleaned all surfaces with lacquer thinner. I cut 4 -1" square pieces and stuck two pieces foam together and the other sections to the trim piece and the door. placed the doubled up section on the trim piece and then slotted it in place as pressed hard. Holds REAL strong Viola.

Alternate R230 Triangle-trim solution

Purchased an 2004 SL600 a few months back and have been taking care of a several of these annoying design flaws.
I too am a victim of this triangle trim problem, and came up with a different solution, employing a "Toggler", which is a simple wall anchor you can find on-line by doing a google search. This worked really well, and still allows the trim piece to be easily removed. You need to remove the white bushing before reinstalling the trim.

The
The "Toggler". Using a sharp utility knife, I trimmed it about 1.5mm shorter to facilitate insertion. Also, cut away these little bumps on the wings, so that when it's time to remove the trim, the toggler slides out nicely.
Before attaching, I trimmed away the original clip, and sanded flush with #100 sandpaper. Make note of the horz and vert position for the next step.

Using our favorite JB Weld, I affixed the toggler right in the same spot of the original clip. Once hardened, spread the wings together for insertion into the rectangular hole in the door.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently

While still maintaining my NTG-1 I tackled two issues. My leg obscures the treble from the door speaker sound, that isn't too crystal clear to begin with. Plus the tweeter pod isn't likely to come off like the OEM trim piece, as it's tailor made and secured with a strand of butyl. The sound did improve. Not spectacularly, but it's a win-win. And the fumbling was fun.

When I removed door panel on my 04 SL600, the triangle piece broke and I looked for a new part replacement, I think I saw it cost nearly $200! I almost fell out of the chair. I fixed mine with Scotch DP-100 Epoxy, that is very strong and lasts forever.
