ABC Plunger Travel Sensor

Hi and thanks for any help. 2004 SL600 white "ABC warning light" problem comes on and code reader says "C1127 fault in component B22/5 (right front plunger travel sensor)". Warning light comes on every once in a while when I first turn the key to the on position or start the car. Usually if I turn key to the on position and see the white ABC warning light, I can just turn key off and it will go away and car starts and runs fine. No issues with car driving and no leveling issues. We have rebuilt both valve blocks and all struts are stable with no sagging and work fine. When the ABC warning light comes on the code reader show the travel sensor reading at 255 mm. When the light is not on the reading are more normal and in line with the other sensors like 28 mm or something like that. I have read here that it likely is a bad travel sensor but it is built into the strut so have to replace strut - sound about right? Rather ask then do it and find out I was wrong - thanks for any help!

You can try changing the top sensor, there should be 2, one on the top of the strut, there was a campaign on the very early cars (well before your 2004) to replace them with an updated part as some of the early ones were failing. I had that code pop up once in my CL, I ran the STAR calibration process for them, it never came back. The learn in is very aggressive, it bottoms the whole car out sharply, then jacks it back up to full height. Always impressive to see this big heavy cars move like that.

hope this helps someone else. From idea above from italian joe. Cant believe it but I pulled the top sensor on the strut that kept getting the code. Had a light oily film on it - not sure if supposed to be there or not. Cleaned plug and in strut with contact cleaner and wiped off. then blew out with compressed air. code still came up a time or 2 that same day. After that - about a month so far - code is gone - incredible

OIl in the connector is usually a sign of a leaking switch which is in need of replacement, in this case if you cleaned it and its working great, then i'd say yes your issue was the fluid in the connector causing contact issues. Glad you got it working for now, at least in the future if it pops back up you know what to look for first

Having same issue on my 05 sl500 only 25k miles. How did you pull it out? Did you have to remove the strut to pull the sensor out? Do you know of any online video showing this? Any response would be GREATLY appreciated.. Thx
