Rear Glass C Pillar-

Has anyone tried painting the rear pillar? High gloss spray paint etc?

When I had a parking scratch in my door repaired I should have let them spray paint my c pillars as well. Totally forgot about that. The guy said it would have been no trouble at all. Bummer.

Are you referring to the body color part adjacent to the side window? Or the black panel next to the back glass?

the panel next to the glass. mine needs repair/replacement. At this point, its so bad that it can't get any worse. Going to try some high gloss spray paint over the weekend and see what happens.

Put roof half way of course and shield surrounding parts (). Roughen up with fine grade abrasive, I would make sure all the clear coat is gone before I'd spray them (). The nicer your coat, the easier you'll spot borders. After colour, use much better quality clear finish (). Obvious, I know, just sayin'.

Yes, as @Frederick NL said, sand smooth, color coat, clear coat, buff to high gloss is the surest method to a nice look. I'm not a pro painter, but I've done a fair amount of it and I've always found that clear tends to lay smooth on its own out a lot better than color, requiring much less finish sanding/buffing.

Alternately, you could put a gloss black vinyl wrap on it. You still need to sand completely smooth first though, as any little surface imperfections will transfer right through the vinyl and be very visible.

New panels are priced around $90 each, but as of a month or so back they were on backorder. Not sure if they still are. Part numbers are 230-792-03-30 (left) and 230-792-04-30.
