Hi,

I accidentally opened the trunk when the roof was folded in the trunk. The roof popped up an inch or two and now the trunk won’t close nor can I put the roof down or up. Any and all help is great appreciated!

There is a red lighted button on the frame of my 2003 500sl at the right rear of the trunk. Open trunk lid and push that button. If the roof does not fold back down, you can lift the rear edge of the folded roof and prop it up. Then use the allen key from your tool kit to lock down the trunk roof latches on either side of the trunk. There is a round plug you remove to access each trunk latch.

Hmmm. I've opened the trunk of my 2004 several times while the roof was stored in there and the roof didn't move and I had no issues with it not closing later. FWIW.

I did it at least twice yesterday.
