Battery Control Module A2305401045
My 2008 SL550 low mileage convertible has a Battery Indicator light on. The local Mercedes dealership said it was the batterycontrolModuleA2305401045, but they said the part is no longer produced, and they offered no solutions. An independent local European repair shop replaced both the front and rear battery, saying each one was showing less than 1/2 the normal charge. This shop also checked two fuses in the passenger side floorboard, but said the fuses looked fine. Everything on the car works fine including all accessories and the hard top convertible.
1) Is there any way to know for sure if the problem is actually the Battery Control Modulator?
2) I have heard that the batterycontrolModuleA2305401045 can be sent off for repair.
3) Is there any foreseeable problem with just driving the car with the battery light on? I've already spent a considerable amount of $ checking all logical things, including installing new both front and rear battery.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

An aftermarket solution just came out that is plug and play.
A dealership will not be willing to install it, but the BCM is fairly easy to access yourself.
The screenshot below is from the Facebook group created awhile back to discuss this issue and solutions to it.
Brian Wallace is the gentleman who created this replacement unit and is selling it directly (people are reaching out to him directly on Facebook to order).
Note: I have no affiliation with this unit or with Brian, although I will likely order one of these units soon as a backup to have on the shelf for my personal vehicle.

Thank you so much. I'm told that there is a person or company who will repair the BCM for about $650. I'm in the process of tracking this info down now also.

My bcm is 21 years old. Just want to plug and play a replacement to avoid failure. This looks more trouble free.
