SL/R230: Rear Driver Wheel Noise and ABS/ESP Warning

Rear Driver Wheel Noise and ABS/ESP Warning
Hello all, I own a 2003 SL500
Earlier this week I suddenly got an ESP/ABS warning alongside a “check engine” warning.
I drove it to a parking lot, turned the car off and back on, warning was gone
Fast forward a few days, I notice there is a noticeable clicking noise coming from my rear left wheel. Not loud enough to hear with the windows up, but once the window is all the way down it is clearly pronounced and especially easy to hear when driving by a wall. It speeds up and slows down with the speed of the car. The ESP/ABS warning came back today while I was listening for the sound and when away again when I restarted the car.
i ran a carsoft scanner on it and I have a fault for the rear wheel speed sensor on that wheel. Would that be causing such a noticeable clicking sound?

Sure would - but I'll bet you have some debris stuck in the hub, maybe damaging the wiring. First thing - jack it up and remove the wheel and start poking around to see what you can see damaged in there.

Speed sensors deteriorate , fail , and trigger symptoms sited.Inspect as Tom recommends but be prepared to replace. Speed sensors are a vital part to the sophisticated braking, suspension and cruise controls systems and if something is a miss lights come on.
