SL/R231: Permanently disable ECO mode?

Permanently disable ECO mode?
According to the owners manual, the only way to shut off the ECO mode is to push the button on the console every time you start the engine. This feature drives me nuts and would like to permanently disable it like I can on our BMW's. Can this be done via Star at the dealer or is there some other way to do it?

Unfortunately, Peter pointed out the only clean solution for those looking to permanently disable the ECO mode on start-up. Yes, I agree it is absurd to spend $174 plus installation costs just to flip the functionality of a single button around. I guess it depends on the level of annoyance for some folks to justify the price. Some folks on this forum have purchased it and they all seem happy with it, so I guess if it makes them happy it is worth it to them. Midcity Engineering probably has no incentive to lower their price, as they pretty much have the only clean fix.

Guess it's not that big of a deal for you, I just switch to sport trans setting every time I start the car.. Good luck finding a cheaper solution

Yes, I'm cheap although I refer to it as discretionaly frugal. I guess that's how I've ended up being able to own 3 very nice German cars and would prefer to apply that $174 toward other priorities for now. Since I've only owned the car for 5 days, I imagine that I will get use to it or eventually spend the $ to fix it.

LAUNCH Creader Elite V2.0 Bidirectional OBD2 Scanner Fit for Mercedes-Benz MB Sprinter Maybach,2025 allows you to disable auto stop-start and, in addition, is a very good code reader. The Eco Stop-Start will still show green unless you click the button but the function is always off until you turn it back on either the Launch.
I really wanted to turn that off and also needed a good code reader so the price made sense.

i was able to even make the transmission start in sport mode all the time , amg menu, eco off .
