2013 SL550

SL63/SL65 - Mercedes Grille Star Different? Anyone swapped out?

Edit, it looks like the grille star on both amg and standard models are flat... does anyone know if there's a mercedes emblem/grill setup that isn't a painted disc?

Hi guys,

I'm not in love with the flat mercedes grille emblem, and it looks like the sl63 has extra dimension -- or I'm imagining it. Seems like it isn't flat, appears like a 3D cut out... has anyone tried to swap the Mercedes star/associated components out in their SL550 to the SL63/SL65? Am I imagining this? Anyone seen a front grill emblem that has depth?

I makes no difference if it's a 550 or 63. Distronic defines the star.

The SL63 grill is much smaller of course and a has a completely different design, along with the bumper.
