Electromechanical Steering Assist Question....
2017 SL450...... Is there any type of sensitivity adjustment on this type of steering system? Compared to my wife's Cadillac XTS and my Ford F-150 the steering on the SL is much harder to turn. On the other two vehicles one can steer with literally one finger. On the SL there is much more resistance. Could it be the due to the wider tires? Thanks....

I love the steering on mine, feels like a sports car. It has to do with steering ratio, wide tires, and aggressive settings. I own three MB's and they all have positive steering feel. My Buick was easier to steer.

Electro mechanical steering feedback is always simulated, as compared to the electro hydraulic ones.
The R231 SL does a fine job IMO and is definitely the best steering the SL have ever had.
American cars in general have this over-boosted power steering to make it easy for people to maneuver heavy cars but I find them outright dangerous at speed.
The steering on the SL does stiffen when switching to sport/sport plus and can be adjusted in the driver dynamics settings. It will not be softer than Comfort though.
