Massage Mode Blues

One of the things I was looking forward to, with my new 2017 SL450, was the seat massage feature. I play a lot of racquetball and being rather old, after playing, I was expecting a nice, soothing massage on the way home. However, that hasn't been the case. It seems that this feature, regardless of which massage option I choose, doesn't live up to my expectations. I wasn't expecting someone to walk along my spine, but I was expecting more pressure than the seats seem to provide.

Does anyone know if there's some way for the MB technicians to adjust the seat rollers to provide more pressure?

Thanks for your help.

No, the massage feature to me is more of a novelty than a real feature. It's air based, it inflates sections of the bladders based on what program you select. It doesn't do much, it's like someone pressing a finger against your back. There is no adjustment.

I like the massage feature in the S-class and it is quite firm in that car so I wouldn't dismiss them just because they are air-based.

That said, the MY17 SL is actually a step back from the 2013-16 model. Those had simpler settings but were actually stronger. The newer shows different massages, none of which I could differentiate.

the big difference in how massages are felt are also somewhat dependent on how the side bolsters and lumbar sections are pumped up. The more is in there, the less you might feel the dynamic seats or massage

I have terrible low back pains occasionally and agree the SL setup is somewhat lacking, but on long drives set the massage function to work right above my butt and it does lessen the cramps. Don't even get me started on the "cooled seats" function.....
