Another broken windshield, GGRRRRR!!
Am I just unlucky or is there a problem. I just broken my third windshield in less than a year. Two on long trips and one at home. I would blame high heat but the one today was while driving on an interstate with 80 deg temp. All the replacements have been installed by MB recommended installers with MB glass. I’ve been driving a very long time and can’t recall ever having any before.

My first reaction was going to tell you to ensure that you actually are getting MB glass. I worked for the glass industry and you won’t believe the crap quality that most get. It looks like you got that though so bizarre.
I hears that the clearbra people are putting it on the outside of the windshields on high end crazy expensive cars. Not sure what you would do if wipers kicked on but maybe something to look into?
i have a Viper and they quit making OEM glass so I was considering it.

Have any of them been caused by a flying object? Does the crack start on an edge? I spent 20 years in a dealership and we would occasionally see a crack caused by a bad metal seam or a bad weld.

Still haven't replaced the last broken glass. I think I'll wait until it interferes with safely driving the car or until i take another long trip. Who knows, it may get another impact.

Don’t be surprised if your “spec” glass is crap china glass. It is a joke compared to OEM.
I cancelled glass coverage on 4 cars at $9 a month each. I take the $36 a month and easily pay for high quality OEM glass cash when needed. Amazing how cheap it is when you call for a cash quote.

I replaced the windshield on my 2013 SL550 only to find out from the dealer that was the 3rd replacement in 23,000 miles. Very odd. Replacement did not go well as I ended up with a buzzing noise in the A-pillar. So I traded on the car for a Porsche 991.2. Love the new car.

Btw, the noise is coming from the a poor fitting a-Pillar cover. The painted part of the A-pillar is actually plastic and contains a rubber seal. If the plastic clip breaks or it is poorly installs, the wind gets underneath the rubber seal and it starts making noises. Dealer should have fixed that for you...

It was more due to the fact that I believe there something wrong in the window area as I know I did not take a rock or anything to the windshield. I just come out early one morning and there’s a huge crack in it. Then to find out that this is the third windshield makes me believe there was something wrong. This car was mainly driven on sunny days with the top down and it only had 23,000 miles is pretty amazing this was the third replacement. Here’s the replacement
