BEIGE carpets & FLOOR MATS!

So, I have this new SL450 coming in another week or two. Knowing, with the Ginger Beige/Espresso Brown interior I ordered, that it will most likely come with VERY light beige floor mats, I thought I would order a set of custom, dark brown floor mats now. Wanting them to “snap” into the factory attachment points on the car, as the OEM mats do, I find that there are NONE available. Mind you, on the S Class cars, with their very light Silk Beige/Espresso Brown interiors, MB started providing very nice BROWN floor mats. How do I KNOW that they have not done the same for what they seemingly consider to be their UGLY STEPCHILD, the increasingly ignored SL? SO, here is what I am planning on doing: I plan on buying a set of S Class floor mats, in BROWN and having them modified to fit my SL. I am hoping for a very original, factory look. I’ll probably be into them $500.00 by the time all is said and done. WHY MB insists on these insanely light colored carpets & floor mats, is just amazing to me.:confused:

We’ve had ours 5 months now and they are holding up very well. Shampooed them after 3 months with portable carpet cleaner then applied Scotchguard and they were like new. Being in Socal there’s hardly any mud/slush to contend with and regular dirt vacuums off. If they end up having to be replaced every few years I’m OK with that. The interior looks great - really like the beige headliner, makes for a very light cabin.

BTW - the actual colors look nothing like the photo above. Ginger leather is more fawn or chamois color.

An option to consider: order another set from MB, and Dye them the color you want - !

Have you looked at 3D Maxpider Kagu Floor Mats? Their beige was a perfect match for my 2018 S560. I purchased a pair of Black for my 2017 SL550 and they are beautiful (except the holes in the SL do not match match up with the snaps installed in the floor). The mats fit so snugly in the SL there is really no need for the snaps as it is impossible to move the mats once they are firmly in place on your floor. Kagu markets each of their mats as being custom fit for the SL and the S but in reality it is the exact same SKU. You may think you are special ordering a set for your SL but you will receive that mat that has the holes correctly placed for an S class. At first I was concerned the holes in the SL did not match but after installing them 6 months ago, I have never thought about the holes until I read your post

. I absolutely love the Kagu's. This is a stock photo. The mats you receive are individual and do not have a tunnel cover.

I love my WeatherTech floor liners. It appears that they do come in "Cocoa".

Hi
Not sure from the forum, what you did about mats for your SL.

I have a late 2012 SL350 in Obsidian Black with a Ginger Beige interior
There was a floor mat missing (drivers side [RH side here in the UK}) and found that mats in this colour have been discontinued in Europe.
BUT, I found them . . . . .In Australia.

Before I go there, I did find these, priced in $US;
[url]https://www.gesmentoj.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=54971 5
It looks to be a low cost option, BUT, it's a new site (about 10 months old and it's country of origin is suspect, so take care.)

Now . . . I know that unlike the US of A, here in the UK and over in Australia, we drive on the correct side of the road, but, I throw this into the mix, you never know if it will be helpful.

I bought from here;
https://shop.mbtynan.com.au/product/...3168001488r38/

there is also;
https://shop.mbwaverley.com.au/produ...3168001488r38/

and a couple of others.
It may well be worth asking if they can find mats for LH drive cars.

Apologies if I've wasted your time

It’s never a waste of time, thanks for resurrecting this ancient thread. I pulled the beautiful—but ridiculous—beige mats the day I took delivery. I bought dark brown, carpeted mats from Lloyds Mats here in CA, They are pretty much a perfect match to the Espresso Brown dash. I’ve saved the original mats for the next owner. :)

Yes, thank you, that’s my Mighty Mouse SL450. She will turn four years old next month. Only 3,700 miles and she looks just like new!

I also bought a set of Lloyd's Luxe mats for my SL. Perfect fit and so much nicer than the OEM mats.

That has to be the best looking SL I've seen.

I know that these things are very personnal and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but, that is my idea of a beautiful looking car.

I'm going back onto the MB and car sales web sites now to see if I can find something similar and at a price I can afford . . . . . . .now see what you've done, more hours wasted looking at cars 😁
