Location of audio amp in 2017+ SL?

I believe this has been mentioned somewhere here before, but I can’t find it. Does anyone here with a 2017 or later R231, with the Harman-Kardon sound system, know the location of the amplifier? I believe the pre-2017 models had it in the trunk and the later cars with the B&O have theirs in the trunk, but I don’t see it in the trunk of my 2019 SL450. Is it behind the passenger seat where the CD changer used to be? Anyone? Thanks.

Stream....Regarding where the amp may be in the new models....

Since the newer, (2017+) 231's have (3) fewer speakers than the original (2013) 231 HK System did, it's possible that MB used what was formerly that speaker space for a new (and perhaps more compact) amp, as opposed to using the space formerly occupied by the 6-CD changer as you suggested...

Hopefully Wolf or someone else can answer your question definitively as to the amp's precise location!

See the following thread and see my pics and details of my install (world of difference, so much so I'm buying the car @ lease end but, B4 the install I was thinking of not keeping it!)

The factory amp is under the smugglers box behind the driver (new amp installed in same place)

I stronly suggest you have similar install with the F & R pots to allow individual contol rather than a set and forget approach and I love showing what a difference the new AMP makes by using the switch in center of the 2 pots that allows default to factory......REALLY SHOWS THE DIFFERENCE...My dealers head mechanic and GM ect could not believe the difference

SL550 back speakers PROBLEM SOLVED!

( 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last Page) My posts 4/4, 4/6 and 4/8 should give you full details

Any questions give me a shout.

My car has a box with an opening top behind the driver’s seat. Behind the PASSENGER seat, there is a box with a cover that does not open. And your amp is behind the DRIVER’S seat?

6 disc cd changer? I think you got that mixed up with an old R230
The DVD changer was or is (for you) in the head unit. The amp should be on the driver side (below the box as mentioned) if memory serves. The passenger side holds the fuse box (visible by removing the cover plate facing the back of the seat).

Below the box which requires removal. But it’s been years since I glanced at it. Konigstiger is the guy to ask for a proper schematic here...

Good luck!

As if the 231's (2013) '6-whatever changer' doesn't also play (Audio) CD's....

FWIW, I actually did prefer the 230's 6-CD 'removable magazine system' to the CD/DVD changer system in my (2013) 231, but at least my 231 has one!...

Having said that, I must also say this!....Come on Man!...That may just be the new world' record for 'nitpicking'....

Just trying to be specific about very specific questions

That said I wish there would be more "fun" topics to discuss in this forum than "spare tires" and "audio amp locations".

We have enjoyed our SL's for nearly 25 years and true, we have gone a bit experimental. Still a true roadster experience...
