6 months of considering the M2 Competition, E class coupe (The most beautiful of all to me) E class Cab, used 911s and Other SLsWell, I finally signed off on a 2017 SL550 that some of you may have seen online. It was one of those Mercedes Program" cars that they would ship around the country for sales training and driving dealership types around. While I would have been perfectly happy with the 450- but finding them used with ABC is next to impossible- but I DID find two NEW 2019s though!.
So they loaded them up with EVERY option. And the other two that I have seen were just like this one. Designo Selenite Matte, Exclusive black nappa interior, ABC, B&O upgrade, Magic sky etc etc.
And as such the ones of these that are floating around (they may be all gone at this point?) have never been titled. So its a 1 owner car when (if) I sell it. But I only get the remainder of the warranty left 46k miles or 2 more years.
The CPOd it for me and I bought 2 year warranty and MB threw in the CPO yes so I have 64 months unlimited miles warranty on it. When its paid off the warranty will be gone! Such is life.
Since I tried buying (or leasing) new, it just doesn't make sense even with the relatively large discounts (11-13% maybe higher as the year closes out?) and low MF, none of that comes close to matching 35-45% depreciation.
And finding new ones with ABC is still kinda rare. I have the airmatic system in my S550 coupe that I am selling, and love it. Really smooth and enables the car to pretend its not 4850 lb.!
But in buying used you usually dont get the color you want. I really wanted a blue one, but finding a blue one with ABC 450/550 is near impossible. And I have a blue Golf R as my daily and they are very similar blues so thats out. Regular Selenite always looks good, but on this car, maybe not. SIlver is classic and you cant go wrong with it and I would have accepted Silver. WHite Black Brown not for me. I bought it out of state, site unseen (other than the pictures) they have assured me 0 chips scrapes or scratches. I am concerned about this, but two separate people there at MB of Portsmouth NH went and checked for me. So it is getting shipped straight to Xpel HQ in San Antonio and having them wrap that rascal in Xpel satin before i even drive it. Where I live between Austin and San Antonio, it is construction 24/7 and gravel trucks drive on Saturdays and even Sundays! A good problem, but problem none the less.
I should have it in 3 weeks. Having never even DRIVEN an SL (what does a 5 minute test drive do?) but I am sure that I will love it. But will put in my review after a few months...
I will love the matte, did my research some call it a pain most say it is stronger than gloss paint. But hopefully Xpel will mitigate most of the rock chips (Xpel is NOT perfect but PPF on these cars here is a must) IMO at least if you live in the "Texas Triangle" Houston Dallas San Antonio.
I believe that the Matte Gray on this car will be a real head turner also. For those who think our cars are good looking! LOL.
List price $ 129,970 Bought for $ 89,900 + still has 30 months of warranty, $ 4299 for 3 year unlimited miles Extended warranty til 2025. 3301 miles.

Brilliant in the sun, Texas has lots of sun- too much sometimes. I even think I will like the AMG fan wheels with this color. LOVE the black with white piping, maybe too much silver but hey, its used and you have to accept that nothing is perfect for the money you save- this one is about 95% though!
I purchased my red 2017 last November. It was produced under the same dealer program as yours with a similar MSRP and options. Had 3,100 miles on it when I bought it for $91,000 with the CPO. Pushing 6,000 miles currently and it has been flawless. Had also been searching for a while when my MB dealer called and told me this had just shown up on his lot. My dealer threw in Xpel on the full front and rocker panels to seal the deal. We couldn't be more pleased. Enjoy !!!

Thanks everyone- I told the wife that its my weekend car as I use a F150 and Golf R for the daily grind. But I am not so sure that for the first few weeks those two will be sitting in the garage!.
I am super stoked and cant wait. It was the price I "wanted" (Knew I was going to have to) pay with all the features I wanted and in my top 2 for color scheme and #1 for features.
I feel extremely blessed and fortunate to have such an amazing car.
Well, my recent CPO purchase - MY17 Polar White SL63 is named "Sugar" ... easily the sweetest vehicle I have ever had the pleasure of owning. My '58 Corvette is a bit more conventional - "PeggySue" - for Buddy's Holly's hit song of that year.

Yes indeed. Taking the 550 into the "wilds" for me means driving around a parking lot looking for a space far enough away from other cars that the SL won't develop a case of lot rash!
