So frustrated

Hello everyone. I've been reading about all of you and your terrific SL's and now I am a member. Listening carefully to member's comments about what to and to not have in an SL I ended up buying a 2017 550 last week. I live in NY and the car was in Oregon at a MB Dealer. It has under 15,000 miles, Selenite Gray with Designo dark charcoal ( not sure of actual name)interior, ABC, magic sky and a few other goodies. It's certified as well. So I was not going to fly out and see the car and heeding the advice of others who bought site unseen I had them sign an addendum to my sales contract wherein they would hold my funds in escrow, send me the car and I had 3 days to reject it and ship it back at my expense for a full refund. Gladly, it arrived last Sunday and was exactly as described. I accepted it Monday and emailed insurance certificates immediately so the car could be registered here. To my great dismay and after several strong texts to my salesperson the paperwork needed will be ovenighted to me only today. Meaning I'll receive it tomorrow and then drop it to DMV and wait for them to mail me my plates. In NY DMV is only mailing new registrations and not doing transactions of this nature in person. So that means in a week or so I'll actually be able to drive the car I just paid for. It's sitting in my garage taunting me. I'm trying to stay out of the garage. The delivery tractor trailer actually got stuck a half mile from home so they off loaded the car and I drove it to my house. Wow it was sweet!!

Congrats, Dave!

“It's sitting in my garage taunting me. I'm trying to stay out of the garage.”

Don’t deprive yourself, Dave. Even just looking at your SL is healthy for the soul.

How about a good wash, polish/clay if necessary and wax? That should kill a few days.

I believe that the interior you have is called “Designo Titanium Gray Pearl/Black Exclusive Nappa Leather.” I’ve never seen one in person and believe they are quite rare. What interior trim does it have? Even if you can’t drive it, you can photograph it. We want to see it!

That is the same interior my SL550 has! I've got the Piano black trim to go with it. I am also wondering what your car has?

Take the plates from another car, screw them on, and go for a spin. If you get pulled over, ask the Trooper/Deputy/Officer "If this was your car, wouldn't you do the same?" If they have no sympathy, pay the ticket - It'll still be worth it!

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Listen to this: Finally yesterday the documents for the registration were Fedexed to me. With a delivery date of next Monday by 8 PM! Checking the shipping rates I see that for another $5.30 they could have provided Monday early morning delivery. At this rate I actually think it will be another 10 days or so before I can use this vehicle. I mean really? Of all the dumb ways to run a business. When I called late yesterday to see what was happening with my docs the expediter at the dealer did not pick up but rather just sent me a tracking number. Seeing the 4 plus day delivery time I now see why she didn't answer the call.
The interior trim color is a burl walnut which I had some reservation with from the pictures but now seeing it in person it looks pretty good. I'll get some photos and post soon. The engine sounds very good idling in the driveway BTW LOL.

Some business models allow employees to care less doing their job after they have your money. I bought a new truck years ago where the front bumper was installed slightly crooked. The salesman told me it would be fixed right after all the paperwork was signed. After signing he then told me to make a appointment with the service department as he walked off. I never bought from them again.....

@Dave NY , I feel bad for you. I am also in NY and bought my SL from the left coast (WA). The dealer used a company called Green Light that did all the NY paperwork. I did talk to them and the dealer on the topic on several occasions and asked for overnighting of everything, and paying the NY DMV for some sort of rush service. I paid for at least the latter, maybe the former too. My plates and reg arrived before the car did. Shipping was a disaster, but that's for another thread.

Real nice car. I do like the color combo. Very elegant and understated. Will remain classic for years to come. Enjoy in good health.

Thank you all for your compliments. I paid $66,800 and the dealer shipped the car at their expense and certified it. It really pretty much looks new inside and out and was represented by them quite accurately. I think the deal was fair to both sides and considering the rarity of the options I am comfortable with the purchase I made. I'm very pleased with the color combination interior and exterior, it has the wheels I wanted. The one thing I was a little concerned about was the walnut trim but in real life it comes across less yellow and more subdued so it's fine.
DMV has all the paperwork so I probably will get plates in a week or so. I know there are other SL's around for less but probably not certified or from a MB dealer.
