I believe he's in the Newport area, which is a good hour's drive from the fires, so he should be okay. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he knows people affected by it, like I do. One friend sent a video of his street where every house except his burned down—extremely lucky.
It's scary to think that a fire like that could easily happen near @Streamliner , and definitely in my area. I'm glad I redeveloped my house with concrete roof tiles and James Hardie siding. I plan to spray my wood eaves with fire retardant again, even though I already asked the builder to spray all the raw wood with a termite solution that includes fire retardant when I rebuilt. You can never be too safe. Now I'm just hoping I don't get dropped from my insurance!

Yes, we are in South Orange County, about 60 miles south of Pacific Palisades and about a half mile from the coast. Getting a bit of ash on my BMW and depending on the wind, a bit of very faint smoke. They are predicting another few days of more severe winds starting on Sunday night. That could really set the firefighters back. This is absolutely catastrophic and I feel for those who have lost their homes—especially those in the Altadena area, who on average are not nearly as well off as the folks in Pacific Palisades. The folks in Altadena are really hurting.
