SL buying advice please

Hello All,

I have decided to start looking for a used SL. So I have some basic questions.
What is the first year they started putting Air bags and ABS in SL's? I want to start looking in that year forward. I'm thinking either a 450SL or 560SL. Any particular years I should avoid? What issues do these SL's have that I need to be considering prior to purchase?

First choice should be a well-cared for 560SL. In order of least-desirable to best - 380SL, 450SL, 280SL with manual, 500SL, 560SL. Skip the 70s, skip the early 80's 380SLs. Go for the 1986 and newer 560SLs. They were built very, very well and a well-cared for one (regardless of miles) will go on forever.

I agree with POS that the 560SL is the SL of choice....aside from the fact I own one.
