Possible Euro 350sl 4 Speed for sale

Hello,
I'm new to the board but a long time admirer of the R107. Ive been looking for the right car for a while and stumbled onto something interesting. From what little I can find it appears that the VIN does show is as a 350. Its obviously a Grey Market car but some things seem odd. It has small euro bumpers but US headlights. It is a 4 speed manual car but doesn't have a back seat like a Euro car should. Any assistance understanding what this cars story is and what I should pay for it would be appreciated. It has an exhaust leak in the manifold area passenger side and doesn't like holding idle on cold start, otherwise seems to drive well. Thank you

Nothing odd at all. VIN shows 350SL manual transmission. Rear seat was an option. North American headlights and turn signals were probably installed upon import to the US.

that makes sense, I didn't know the seat was an option. Do these 350s have the same engine issues as the 380? Also anyone know what a fair price on this would be?
thank you

On rest of the world models several things were optional. AC, power windows, rear seat, and automatic transmission were all options. There may be others.

The 3.5 does not have all the issues associated with the '81-'83 North American 3.8.

3.5 is a cast iron block. The only issue is the timing chain, upper plastic guides (except for the first few years) and tensioner. If the guides have not been replaced they are due.

No idea on price.

This looks to be a pretty nice car. Not sure what the Johns Conversions means? See my pictures. My Euro 1973 3.5 manual has no rear seat. Has manual windows with air conditioning. My 1972 Euro 3.5 automatic has a rear seat no air conditioning and power windows. Both cars are fun to drive but the stick is a whole different beast. Difference between Euro 3.5 is D jet injection and 9.5 compression 230 hp. The North American cars were 4.5 K jet injection low compression 8.0 160 hp. I'm thinking might be time to sell either or.

The cold idle is an easy fix. If you buy it let me know and I will fill you in.
