Really Hot. My wife and I took our 450sl out for a spin on a pretty hot day. At the end of the ride, the hood of the car was so hot that you couldn't leave your hand in that spot. There was also hot(!) air coming out from under the car on the passenger side door. When i opened the hood, the fan was blowing really hot air. I don't remember this to be the case. The temperature gauge was reading correctly.

Is 1079 a fault code?

Don't know what the fault code is. I'm taking it to the dealership next week for them to see how hot it runs. Thanks

Since this is the 107 forum I thought it was a typo and meant 1979 450SL.
If that is the case it could be a clogged catalytic converter.
