1973 mercedes 450sl ignition module question

Hi i just picked up this 1973 mercedes 450sl with electronic fuel injection, it wasn't starting i wasn't getting any spark i checked everything points, coil, ballast resistors. I found that i was only getting 2.1volts to the positive side on the coil, i found out that the ignition module was the problem and disconnected it and rewired the ignition to disable the module and got the car running it starts runs and drives but it runs horrible missing and wants to stall after engine warms up. My question is do i need the ignition module to make it run proper? My next move is to do plugs and fresh gas. Let me know thanks

I doubt it. Learn about the system. https://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c...-75-350-a.html
Consider Pertronic unit that eliminates the points and can also be used to eliminate the switch gear/ transistorized ignition.
