Ultimate SL65 'Stupis Human Trick'

I had sold my position for an SL65 to an enthusiastic guy. Six months later it was time to pick colors and options....now he has to plunk down some more 'non-refundable' money. He is now into the car for over $30K. The car comes in and I give him the bottom line. He stalls, whines over sales tax, etc....and eventually I give him a deadline to buy the car or lose his money as the dealer needs to move this car. I never hear from him again.

I can't believe that he would just walk from a deal after all that money and commitment. Oh well........If anyone wants a white/charcoal SL65 with all options.....PM me.

He walked from 30k? I don't get it. Even if he didn't want the car anymore he could buy it and sell it and lose less than 30k. I doubt you have heard the last from him if he is out 30k.

$30K is a lot of money. However, he may have made a very smart choice to just walk away. If he completes the purchase of the car with tax title and all the different things you pay for but don't why, combined with instant depriciation plus the furthr depriciation that will occur by the time he finds a buyer, he will likely loose more than $30K. Many people were expecting to re-sell the 65's at a premium, it is just not happening. I got a call from a friend MB shop asking if I was interested in a CL65 with the Kleemann upgrade that owner wants to get rid of at $160K. The car cost $190K without tax, title and all that stuff. He has already lost way over $30K. If you add the cost of the Kleemann, the poor guy has probably lost over $40K. These cars are just not selling. They are incredible cars, but at $190K, there is just too much competition from other car makers.
