E63 vs. SL55

My brother test drove a new E63 today with me in the passenger seat. Wow,
it was impressive. We did north to 60 in 3.2 seconds according to the sales rep in the back seat. I questioned his watch. Has anyone else driven the E63. I was told that the engines are 100% AMG. Is this true? He said it would out run my SL55 and I say it depends on the driver, flat out or on a track.

I think the sales rep meant 4.2 sec.

I guess the possibility depends on the sales-rep..
The last MB-rep I spoke to didn't even know what a "030 AMG Performance Package" is, so I'm not surprised any more....

No, an E63 will not keep up or beat an SL55 from a stop or a roll.

I've driven both an 07 E63, and a CLS63 straight from the dealership and they are not near the SL55.

E63 does have a good chance against the SL55, considering that E55 is faster than SL55 and E63 is able to keep up with E55 just fine.

CLS55 AMG
i think from a start the E63 has a very good chance indeed. From a roll (20+ mph) the SL55 will take it

Well, the E63 is around 330lbs lighter then the SL55 while generating 3hp less. The weight alone shows an effective offset of 30hp in favor of the E63.

The 0-60 times from MB show the E63 as 4.3 and the SL55 as 4.4.

Results from independent tests are telling something else!

The E55 and SL55 are pretty even... The E55 has a slight weight and drag advantage while the SL has more horsepower. I can tell you that the E55 "seems" quicker.

It wouldn't shock me if the E63 is a hair faster than the SL55...

I don't think so, because the supercharged engine has much more torq. and the test results of the E 63 are not better as the E 55!

Is everyone talking about the right E63?
M156 or M157?
Turbo or N/A?
RWD or AWD?

The SL55 might get the lead from 20MPH - 90/100MPH, but anything after that the 63 pulls away , raced a friends SL55 numerous times in my CLS63 and he always initially gets the lead till about 100ish in which i reel him in and walk away till about 130/140 by almost a car length, once weather clears in Chicago might try to make a video
