E55 then E63, now back to an E55
SL65 in snow?

Although this may sound silly, with a dedicated set of winter tires - how will an SL65 go in moderate snow?
Ive driven E55s in snow and they are fine, as well as R230 SL500's - but that V12 packs a lot of horse and torque....
Thanks in advance

Know couple guys who drive '08 S600s as winter commuter cars in NYC region and have had no issues....w/winter tires and on 18" wheels....

Issue to consider for SL65 w/its 19" wheels may be those dimensions vs optimal winter tire/wheel set-up...would guess 18" winter wheels are incompatible vs size of 65 brakes....

There's someone on the board who has done it and I have a friend who's done it as well. The AMG limited slip actually helps quite a bit and putting it in C (so it starts in 2nd gear) is a must. It does just fine w/ dedicated snow tires, but it is far from being the best thing for the snow.

The V12 also has an accelerator attached to it, so with the LSD it's got to be the best SL for snow. I just can't bear the thought of taking any nice car within 100 miles of salt.

+1

I used to worry about my CL in the limited snow of California.
But comapred to the SL55. Its a dream in the snow.
Only had the SL on an Icy road one time with my summer tires.
I needed fresh undies after that experience. No Bueno.

Keep the SL in the barn in the Winter Snow.
