Former S2000 owner turned SL55

Hi everyone, I been lurking the boards but after purchasing my 06' SL55 with 28K miles I hope to become part of some events/meets.

As far as the SL55 it is awesome, coming from a S2000 to this is quite a treat. Luxury and sportiness is how I sum up my experience so far with the SL55.

I have only one pet peeve and I don't know if its just my SL55 but I hear quite a bit of rattling and squeaks over bumps.

Thanks,
Amer

I'd be curious how much of a driver's car feel you lost with the SL55...I know just losing the manual gearbox must take away a lot of that feel.

I had a 2005 S2000 that I sorely miss as it was one of the most fun cars I have ever driven...Felt like I could take any turn at any speed in that car.

Was just too harsh for daily driving and awful on long trips (uncomfortable and noisy as hell).

Squeaks sounds as if you need to lube the roof. Congrats on the upgrade! Big difference from a S2000 (4 cylinder) to a V8 monster. Why the change in mind as I see you're a die hard s2000 fan?

To answer both of you, I was a diehard S2000 fan. I daily drove all those S2000s in my signature from 2001-2008. I just got it out of my system and was happy to move into the SL55, I don't think I will ever miss an S2000 after this beast!

BTW, do any of your SL's have the cooling fan running all the time when the car is on? Also how much will I expect to pay for Service B? I'm 3700 miles over.

I did a rolling 60 mph start against a modded S2000 in my Sl55. I blew his doors off. Every car is a comprimise.

Yup, only an S2000 with forced induction is going to have a prayer against an Sl55.

I'm surprised you didn't evolve into an NSX instead. As far as drop tops goes, the SL55/65/600 are as good as it gets. With the SL55, the only mod I had to do was lowering it a bit.
