2006 versus 2007 SL 65
for those that have owned/driven both cars. is there a noticeable difference in terms of performance feel given the steering rack and abc upgrade to the 2007? just curious as seems the price differential for cpo (pre-owned) is fairly significant (~$20k+) still. thanks.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Had '07 SL65 back in Summ06 for ~3K mis; test-drove MY06 in distant past
Would argue improvements to ABC and steering in MY07 are well appreciated and valuable
Biggest weaknesses of MY07 were traction (even on dry, uneven surfaces) and awful brake pedal feel...and 65 motor back then had more than a few "issues" w/reliability (at least w/numerous colleagues who owned new 65s back then; anecdotally, know of several colleagues w/65 lemon buybacks from that era)
Have heard AMG modulated throttle response of MY09 SL65 to improve traction in daily use and 65 motors have (naturally) become more robust over time w/debugging over the yrs....haven't extensively test-driven '09 SL65, but would comment that traction of my '09 CL65 is absolutely brilliant, even in wet twisties driving...and motor (and overall car) has been rather robust....in fact, best car I've ever owned/driven...at least until my '10 CL65 arrives

There are also arguments for the MY '06: I like that front bumper better with wire mesh vents, the '06 also has 8-pot calipers in the front vs. the 6-pot on the '07

FYI. I think the 2006 SL65 had TPMS that actually showed the pressures of each tire individually. The 2007 may only have a light that shows if any of the tires fall below a certain pressure. Big difference. I prefer the individual tire pressure values and this is almost a deal breaker for me to get the 2006 over the 2007. Check me out on this information but I'm almost sure this is the case. Let me know if I am correct and good luck with the decision.

I can't believe that. Why would MB change that? I currently have that feature on my 2005 CL65 and also had it on my 2005 SL600. It is great to not have to check the tire pressures by hand and I find the sensors very accurate. Why the hell would MB change that feature??? MB makes some really poor decisions IMO that I will never understand. Thanks for the info.

Any hackers out there? I'd willing to pay some money to have this feature enabled.

thanks for all the input. i love our AMG's, but on a side note, I stopped by the AM dealer on the way home and a black/black Vanquish was on the showroom floor. very different type cars, but what a stunning beauty. the exhaust note is just menacing, as well. gorgeous.
