SL55 AMG + Big Curb...

Well my friend was working and let his two friends take his SL55 AMG to a car wash that was no more than a quarter of a mile down the road from the shop...

He got a call a few minutes later and they said they had a big problem.

The story they told us was that they were making a turn and some black Civic did not stop and they had to swerve out of the way blah blah slid on some sand and plowed a curb and a speed limit sign... but as I told my friend they could have fabricated the story and told you anything they wanted to. My take is that they had no idea how to drive that car, the power it has and how to stop it, and simply ****ed up.

I'm no adjuster, but I think it's totaled.

This is what she looked like.. a 2003 SL55 AMG with RENNtech upgrades...

If your friend believes the story, tell him I have some swamp land for sale...

They f*cked up, plain and simple.

damn, a curb did all that...

OUTCAST 05-19-2009 01:54 PM

Holy S*** there is no way a curb did all that unless they were moving really good. Man sorry to see this happen to such a nice looking car.

Havoc 05-19-2009 02:01 PM

Ouch!! That's got to hurt!!

Sorry to see this much damage!!

Good luck to you friend!

sikhkd 05-19-2009 02:16 PM

Ouch man.. that's hard

Thats one reason I never let anyone drive my car, especially without me being in it

jmf003 05-19-2009 02:40 PM

Ouch!

I read the topic-title and I felt really bad already... And boy oh boy, it's bad.

Those boys f.u.c.k.ed up big time. No way a stray Civic is responsible for that. Worst case the Civic would have plowed into the SL. This is a genuine B.S. story.

okbarnett 05-19-2009 02:45 PM

How much do you want for the renntech air box?

Oxygen 05-19-2009 02:48 PM

Hmmm... $1000?

Marcus Frost 05-19-2009 03:03 PM

Wow... I would be beyond pissed. What the hell were they doing to lose control of the car like that, especially with ESP?

I think it's likely totaled as well. I wonder how long they kept the engine running with that hole in the oil pan.

Would make a great car to get parts from.

You just answered your own question.

The ECU receives a crash signal and is instructed to shut down immediately.

carcommander 05-19-2009 03:53 PM

The ****up was putting someone in the car who didn't have an idea how to drive it. Like turning my GF lose in my F430.

Oxygen 05-19-2009 03:57 PM

Let your girlfriend get lose in my S600 with me in it bro... :D

Shake 05-19-2009 05:01 PM

Oh god damn.

CA_E55 05-19-2009 05:25 PM

It's just a car

Good to hear nobody got hurt!

And - is it just me or is that leather dash trash from the air bag deployment?

Al E 05-19-2009 05:59 PM

Sorry for you and your beautiful car. You can get another one and your present car will be history. The new one will be better. Just my 2 cents.

Yes... the whole dashboard is trashed.

The whole panel is $3,970.00

Airbags are $1,640.00 / $975.00 / $1275.00

If you actually read the thread, the car is not mine and has a more involved story behind this...

AMGfan 05-19-2009 08:02 PM

I really hate to see that happen...! I believe more likely they were racing the civic and lost control...either way a shame it had to happen.

Good luck to your friend.

Holy ****ing ****. I cant figure out who is dumber, your friend, or the idiots that crashed the car. I can see your friend being nice and letting a pal drive it but you are supposed to sit in the car so they dont go nuts. Total disrespect there. I hope someones head got ****ing smashed in.

Holy F!^#*%G S^#t

BIGjohnny 05-19-2009 09:27 PM

Ouch...

JonMBZ 05-19-2009 09:59 PM

Not too good of a friend I drove someones S63 before and I drove it like an old lady. I would never put someone 150k in that type of danger :O hopefully they do total it. I wouldn't want that car after it's been molested like that.

QuadBenz 05-19-2009 10:55 PM

I cringed just looking at those pics. That truly sucks and I hope your friend really didn't believe that curb story. To the people that ruined that awesome SL55: :smash:
