Is it ok to use Mobil 1 5-40 if I live in S Florida?

Also, does anyone use the paper filters from local auto stores or should I buy the one from a MB dealer.....this is for an SL55.

If the oil conforms to MB 229.51 it should be OK, and a viscosity rating of 40 is fine for FL.

As for the filter - these cars need a special fleece filter. They are available from Internet stores - just be sure the supplier confirms they are of the special fleece type. I doubt you will find them at local auto stores.

I went with 0-40. I found it for 30 for 5 quarts and a free oil filter. Of course I had to buy 10 quarts in total.

The oil change was not as quick as other cars. All those plastic shields are a pain.

partsgeek.com appear to have really good prices on fleece oil filter kits... about $14.
