Anyone in AZ or CA want to trade: My wood steering wheel and shift knob for leather?

Title says it all. I'm currently in AZ but travel to SoCal often for business.

I finally picked up a 2004 SL600 and it has the wood steering wheel and shift knob. I'd honestly rather have a solid leather steering wheel and shift knob.

I feel a solid leather wheel and shift knob is more sporty. Some of you guys I know prefer the wood look.

If anyone wants to trade their solid leather steering wheel and shift knob, for my wood steering wheel and shift knob, I will pay for the swap at a shop at your choice in AZ or CA.

Pictures of my steering wheel and shifter below. I do have key-less go and thus would need a key-less go knob. My steering wheel DOES NOT have shifter buttons.

I'd also be interested in trading my wood trim (doors and center piece) for pretty much anything else. Aluminum, carbon fiber, or even a darker wood.

Never mind.....sorry.
i jumped the gun. I'm in NYC, he's in Rhode Island.
also, the car had the shift paddles behind the steering wheel.
Dude, i'm sure you'll get this done quickly as most people prefer the wood. It's more expensive as well.

No worries. I don't have a second car so I do think I would have to arrange the swap with someone in driving distance.

I too agree that I should be able to make this happen. Some prefer wood, some prefer aluminum, some prefer leather.

Lukas- PM SENT... I am in for the knob...i have been looking for one for a while and never jumped the gun. One small issue is that mine is the ash leather and darker grey not black but Keyless go. I'd be willing to put some $ towards swap also due to this difference...

really Hope we can work something out. I'm in Socal too =-)

PM replied. I'm also going to post it here just so others know my intentions with the swap:

I really need to find someone who will swap both the shift knob and steering wheel. ...and after thinking about it more, I may hold out for an 2003-2004 SL55 owner who will swap their entire trim with me: Their solid leather wheel and shift knob for my wood wheel and shift knob and also their center section and door trim pieces for my center section and door trim pieces.

That way the person taking my interior bits gets a matching set all around, and I get my solid leather wheel and shift knob plus (whatever) color center section and door trim pieces. The color of their trim (center section and door pieces) really doesn't matter to me as I have a friend that does carbon fiber wrapping and will probably have the center section and door trim wrapped in carbon fiber.

What's the little button on the dash, behind the blinker stalk, and to the right of the headlight switch?

Put your entire request up on eBay as an auction.
List it as "Mercedes Benz R230 SL55, SL500, SL600 Burle Wood Interior"
in the body of the auction, indicate that you're either selling it all as one set, or are willing to trade with another owner for the interior you desire.
It's a little different then a typical eBay auction, but I'm 100% sure it will work. Why? You are not limiting yourself to an enthusiast website such as this one...........rather you are advertising or basically putting up a classified add on one of the largest websites in the world, followed by millions. I'm certain you will have many people lined up for this, and will be able to pick and chose from different options. Make the auction a 10 day auction, and wait for the emails to start pouring in.
Best of Luck

It's the switch for the Escort 9500Ci. The previous owner had it installed. Honestly....I still perfer my V1 to this system and will be setting up my own V1 stealth install shortly. I hope to figure out how to leave the Escort laser jammers active and GPS active, but disable the radar.

Pictures below.

The steering wheel does NOT have shifter buttons.

The other challenge we will run into is that your SL65 likley had a different center console piece as the 2005+ SL's had a larger radio and the center console piece was different (see below). I'm absolutely down to swap my steering wheel and shift knob for the all leather steering wheel and shift knob out of your car, but I doubt you would want to do the trade unless you have the same style trim on your doors and center console since we can't swap the center piece.

Let me know.

August is going to be hell for me (moving into a new place in Tempe/Phoenix, changing offices at work, and taking a NRA class), but I definitely plan on getting out to Cali in September...if you can wait that long.
