Changed the plugs on my 55...

I was going to post this a few days ago when I did my plug swap. These plugs were removed from my 03 SL55 with 64k, they were in pretty rough shape, and I had a hell of a time just trying to back them out. I honestly do not think they had ever been changed.
I went with a 1 stage colder NGK 7AIX plug, and used lots of anti-seize. These went in MUCH easier. |
They look like originals.

Book says change them at 60K. Is it better to change them earlier?

It's more of an age issue than mileage.
Over time the plugs tend to "weld" themselves to the heads, that's why the recommended service is based on mileage or age of vehicle. |
ahhh Now I know why my tech at the stealer is suggesting a 1600 dollar plug change at 27K.
